Background
Progressive Learning’s director immigrated to Canada with her nuclear family more than two decades ago and experienced many challenges of not only learning a new language but also adapting to a new culture, environment, and social landscape. Her father is a Master of Robotics Engineering, and mother, a Master of Arts. This meant scholarly pressures were commonplace in her childhood. Consequently, she was expected to perfect her English independently and after many years of dedication, English became a passion. As a result, teaching literacy came naturally to her and folding back the layers of education made sense to someone who had to teach herself with scrutiny. What she came to understand is that learning is much more than just the content. In her experience, education is deeply steeped in the connection between teachers and students. She realised that educational success only emerges in certain learning environments. She also discovered that the student’s level of comfort and ease of communication were critical ingredients to optimal learning. She understood and understands today that progress comes with discovering each student's unique mode of learning.
Ultimately, a holistic approach was the key and this paved the way for her company. With this foundation, Progressive Learning Institute has helped countless students.

On average, how well do students retain the information they’ve learned? We recognise that too often, students forget much of what they’ve learned over time. The problem is, sitting at a desk while reciting the material over and over again doesn’t really work. Instead, Progressive Learning trains students to apply what they’ve learned in their daily lives so that their brains identify and conceptualise the material to be of practical importance. This helps trigger their long term memory rather than short which is an applicable skill to many subjects. What is more, this psychological approach to academic review has been shown to be remarkably effective.
