Grade 10 Student from Glen Eagle Secondary School

LONG TERM STUDENT (ENGLISH LITERATURE, SCIENCES, MATHS, AND MORE)

My daughter started tutoring with progressive learning starting grade 9.

Namam is her English tutor. She provides creative ways of learning to encourage and motivate her reading, and to dig deeper into the meanings in the stories. My daughter feels she has caught up quite a bit in her ability to read and write in school.
Jess is my daughter’s math tutor, who is patient and gentle when approaching such a "frustrating" subject. He provides resources for her to look at other fun math and physics learnings for her interests. My daughter was able to achieve A in her math honors class last year.
Mar has been my daughter’s favourite science teacher ever! Mar has tailored all her material to meet individual student learning needs and the richness of her professional knowledge is such an inspiration to my daughter. Of course, she is super funny.

Overall I am very thankful for progressive learning to support us with great tutors who we hope to have a long term working relationship with.

Renee Gomes, Vancouver Real Estate Agent at Macdonald Realty

RESUME BUILDING, BUSINESS LANGUAGE, AND EXAM PREPARATION CLIENT

When I began my journey to become a Real Estate Agent last year, I knew I would have to write the CELPIP exam. I honestly did not know all that entailed or how to properly prepare for it. I was lucky enough to be referred to PL Institute; we discussed the process in detail and what I would need to do to prepare for the exam. With lessons in place and amazing guidance, I was able to pass the exam with flying colours. Also, soon after my exam, I had to focus on obtaining my Real Estate License. Thankfully, PL Institute continued to help me in ways that I needed. Plus, when it came to me applying to different brokerages, my resume needed fine-tuning, editing and proof reading. With the help that I received from PL Institute, I was able to build a professional resume and secure an amazing spot at a fantastic brokerage: Macdonald Realty. Whether you are a student, young professional or just need to freshen up on a certain area of work or knowledge, I wholeheartedly recommend PL Institute. You’ll feel the partnership, trust and true connection they offer.” (2020)

Grade 9 Student From Fraser Heights Secondary School

LONG TERM STUDENT (ENGLISH GRAMMAR, SYNTAX, MORPHOLOGY, ESSAY WRITING, AND MORE)

"The improvement that I have seen with my writing and reading has been amazing. I have learned how to structure my sentences, follow punctuation, apply grammar, take useful things out of reading, and use many more skills that help me understand English. I have always struggled with starting paragraphs and my grammar, but with Namam, I have learned how to use the literary devices and have seen great progress in my writing. Namam takes the time to help me with things I struggle with and lets me understand why I should do them in certain ways. I appreciate how Namam asks about my week and takes every minute in the hour to help me learn. Not only has my writing improved, but my reading has also greatly been impacted. I used to read the words with my eyes only and not clearly understand what the book was saying. Now that I read with Namam, she helps me learn while reading out loud and asks me to pick out the literary devices. This helps me in my classes since we answer questions on small pages which I found difficult before. I love the laughs that Namam and I share and how she relates with me. I also used to find big words harder to use and understand, but Namam has really helped me with that without forcing it upon me. She has also helped me with using conjunctions and avoid repeating many sentences. I find her to be very patient, kind, and welcoming with her thoughts and ways of teaching. I have never felt stressed or misunderstood with her and I hope she continues to help me extend my knowledge in English. " (2023)

Mrs. D

MOTHER OF TWO, LONG TERM, HIGH SCHOOL, AND UNIVERSITY STUDENTS (EXAM PREPARATION AND ESSAY WRITING)

"I know Nathalia for quite some time.  As a parent of two ordinary high school children I was looking for someone who could not only give them an advice on the current matter or a problem that they may have from the school  English class, but also who actually cares about the long term progress  and outcome of the entire  tutoring endeavour. This happens to be not an easy task, of course. I consider myself lucky to meet Nathalia who became the most favorite tutor of my children through their high school times.

Nathalia’s teaching style is what I would call a classic approach - very organized, with all immediate and more distant targets and expectations being established, coordinated and communicated to the students and parents based on the initial thorough evaluation of the student’s current English level and skills. Her own expectations of the student’s performance are high and do not allow for any procrastination or negligence on behalf of the student. The homework loads are large, making children to study hard in preparation for each class. They sometimes complained by nevertheless got ready because Nathalia is not only an expert in English language arts but also possess a very influential personality. She was able to inspire my kids to succeed in school and to pursue their life goals and ambitions after graduating the high school.

In the end I was very pleased with the education provided by Nathalia, since my kids have benefited a lot from these sessions, and not only in the subject of English which in itself is a huge thing. They also significantly improved their own self esteem and confidence." (2017)
